From Backyard to Farmers Market
What started as weekend cookouts for friends and family turned into an obsession. I spent years perfecting my craft - experimenting with wood combinations, dry rubs, and smoking times until I found that perfect balance of smoke, bark, and tenderness.
My friends kept telling me I should compete, so in 2019, I finally entered the Maryland State BBQ Championship. I didn't expect much - just wanted to see how I stacked up against the pros.
When they called my name for 1st Place Brisket, I couldn't believe it. Beating pitmasters with decades more experience than me? That was the moment I knew this had to be more than a hobby.
Three months later, Old Smokey BBQ was born at the Kensington Farmers Market. That first Saturday, I sold out in two hours. The community's support has been incredible ever since.
Every Saturday morning, I'm up at 3 AM tending the smoker, making sure every piece of meat that hits your plate is competition-worthy.
Snapshots from the Pit
We source the best meats and smoke them fresh every single week. No shortcuts, no compromises.
Every rack of ribs, every brisket is tended with the same care I'd give to my own family's meal.
The Kensington market isn't just where we sell - it's where we connect with our BBQ family.
